REY N. MAMANGUN is an active komiks contributor during the 1990s. He was born on Dec. 25 in Bagang, Masantol, Pampanga. He is a 5th year undergraduate of Electronics and Communications Engineering in the University of the East. He was just a student when he tried to submit his sample test drawings to publications. He did it for almost a year before he had a break. Last quarter of 1989, he was given a script to illustrate by Cely Cruz Barria, then editor of Shocker Komiks.
Because of the difficulties to get scripts then, he decided to just write story instead. Here, he was fortunate since many of his stories were accepted. He wrote in almost all the comics of Graphic Arts Service, Inc. and its sister publications. Despite that he had large earnings in writing, he still did not forget to sketch. This is because he wanted and he was just writing scripts to finance his drawings. With almost a decade of his writing, he had to master the short story scriptwriting. “I had one series then in Lovers & Friends Komiks with Almel de Guzman, but I have done a lot of mini-novels or full-length novels”, he said. When he perceived that comics started to decline, he shifted to writing romance novels and published them in Precious Page Corp.
