KISLAP KOMIKS is the first komiks magasin published by Graphic Arts Service, Inc.. Its maiden issue appeared on September 15, 1962 with Damy Velasquez as Editor.

In early 1970s, a little after the retirement of Tony S. Velasquez as GASI general manager, GASI experimented with new type of komiks which would remove komiks illustrators from komiks production: the PhotoKomiks. One of the comic books that featured Photokomiks was Kislap Komiks. The Photokomiks was a brilliant flop. The regular komiks readers shunned the photokomiks, and Kislap Komiks together with Teens Weekly Komiks went virtually unsold on the newsstands. Thus, photokomiks was immediately discontinued only after a few issues.

Kislap Komiks changed its name at least three times until it finally concentrated on showbiz-oriented format of a magazine. The komiks section was totally removed from its pages. It is still in circulation up to this date, now published by Kislap Publishing, Inc.
